JULY 14-22 THE FUN BEGINS   They flew in a couple of days early (not the penguins...penguins can't fly) and we spent the day with Amie, Ash and Robert in Stanley park (getting lost) and at the Vancouver Aquarium.     Some brave souls (the ladies) go swimming and the tide comes in so the gents have to move all the gear a few hundred meters LOL   Chris and Stephanie arrived in one piece and we all had to have proctored Covid tests submitted for the cruise…YAY we all tested negative which means we positively passed negatively.   Saturday, Elizabeth and I took Misty to the Alley Cats Hotel, an amazing cat boarding home in the country.  This was an incredible location, suggested by some friends.  Each room has a view of the country side, a web cam for us to watch her while we’re gone, great staff and they are booked 2 months out with a waiting list of 200!  Good thing we booked Misty’s vacation in January.     It’s impos...

Tangle Falls   June 27 to July 13   We continued our drive on the Icefield Parkway to Jasper and our campground in Hinton.  The second part of this highway is just as incredible as the first.  To use their WiFi we parked at the discovery centre once again.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous for our drive but the forecast showed cold and rainy for the next few days.  To take advantage of the good weather, we booked the Jasper Sky Tram for this day and decided to have dinner at the top of Whistlers Mountain.  That way we didn’t have to worry about making a late dinner at the campground.    We stopped along the way at many beautiful sites like Tangle Falls and of course at Athabasca Falls.        Across the road from Tangle Falls   Athabasca Falls   Up the Jasper Sky Tram for a nice view and great Dinner   The Jasper Sky Tram is not like the Banff Gondola.  It only has two “...

June 24 to June     Our drive from Banff to Silverhorn Creek Campground was spectacular even though the day was cold and rainy and there were lots of clouds in the sky.  At times a piece of a mountain would peak out of the clouds creating an eerie picture up ahead.   Jerry insured that we were all prepared for a campground that has no services and that we had enough water for three days.   When we left Tunnel Mountain it was 4 ° C.  It boggles my mind knowing there is a heat wave in Ontario and it is essentially winter here.  We donned our coats and gloves and set off.  On our way out of the campground we saw the park’s weather board showing Saturday as being a nice sunny day.   The Silverhorn Creek Campground is about ½ way between Lake Louise and the Icefields Discovery Centre.  As we drove out of town, I suggested that we could drive back on Saturday to see Lake Louise and Moraine Lake but we would need...
